compassion as a source of empowerment.

Compassion is ‘suffering with’.

Compassion is suffering with (self, others). It’s only possible to be compassionate when I fully love myself in my ups and downs, in my light and my shadow. This requires deep introspection and an understanding of my egotic mechanisms. Suffering brings me THERE because it brings the necessary humility. Without humility, there’s no compassion.

Compassion and ego.

By understanding how the ego appropriates and feeds on suffering, I gradually learn to detach myself from it and fall back into love, kindness and full acceptance of what is. This frees me from suffering. This inner interplay between my egotic “I” and my connection to the ‘higher self’ is a long learning process. The more I become aware of it, the faster I can free myself from egotic chains. It’s a permanent work of presence. The more attentive I am, the more I weaken the ego, which then resumes its place as a servant and allows the ‘higher self’ to take its place as a guide, letting the energy of life flow freely.

Compassion, a full and unlimited presence.

Compassion is listening, receiving, welcoming everything (the other) fully in love and benevolence, and above all, without reaction. So not from the ego, but from love. It’s not the ego/I (dual) that welcomes, but the ‘higher self’ that is in reaction to nothing.

Compassion is not about helping, compassion is not about saving, and compassion is not about finding solutions.

Compassion is essential to the therapist’s posture: full and total presence.

Compassion as a source of empowerment.

This posture enables empowerment. And to do that, one has to know how to welcome fully. Otherwise, my “I” interferes and “I” appropriate the other person’s process. In so doing, I take away the other person’s power and strength. For each of us has his or her own keys (mine are not yours).

As a coach/therapist, my sole aim is to guide you toward your keys, not to feed my ego by imposing mine on you (even unconsciously). This is a permanent and profound work of presence.

Alchemy.

As soon as it reacts in me, I must instantly alchemise to not interfere with your process. To alchemise means to process the reactions (triggers) on the spot, in my body, so that the energy can circulate freely without my ego appropriating or clinging to anything.

My posture as a coach & therapist.

ISUMATAQ is an Inuit word meaning “the keeper of the sacred space where wisdom can reveal itself.” Keeping this powerful concept in mind, every coaching and therapy session is something that is done  “with” each other and not one that is done “to” you.

You are free and responsible.

My sole aim is to give you back your responsibility, your autonomy.

The world has made you believe you’re a prisoner, but you’re free.

Freedom, however, is something you have to really want, because whoever is free is also responsible for what is. Few people accept this. It’s easier to complain, to victimise oneself, or to put one’s happiness, freedom, and joy outside oneself.

Why so?
